Where Are Starbucks Mugs Made?

Starbucks mugs are products of the American Mug and Stein factory at 761 Dresden Avenue, East Liverpool, Ohio, United States.

Starbucks also has mug producers in Hong Kong, China, and Thailand.

Clyde McClellan, the owner of American Mug, got the chance to produce for Starbucks when Starbucks wanted domestic vendors.

Starbucks then decided to have a campaign called “Create Jobs for the USA.”

Inspired by this campaign, Ulrich Honighausen, the CEO of Hausenware Inc., found American Mug and Stein Co.

He partnered with American Mug in 2012 to make mugs for Starbucks.

At the time, Starbucks Chief executive Howard D Schultz cited how expensive Chinese labor was.

He stated that American Mug could deliver mugs to Starbucks in just four days. Meanwhile, China suppliers took about three months.

American Mug used similar manufacturing methods it did decades ago. They depend on forming, molding, glazing, and finishing using hand.

After the partnership, Kazuharu Kato also joined the two companies.

They bought a pottery plant where they’ll use advanced technology to produce mugs in bulk.

Conclusion

Starbucks only put a hold on the production of the Been There Series; they didn’t discontinue its production.

You can still buy Starbucks “Been There Series Mugs.” Three more had their release in 2022. There are over a hundred mugs in the Starbucks “Been There Series.”

Starbuck mug production happens in China, Hong Kong, Thailand, and the United States.
